Church was never meant to be an escape from the real world. It was never meant to be used like so many use alcohol & drugs as a time out from the real issues & problems of life.. (that never works anyway). The church is the bride of Christ. A life changing, hope breeding, love & healing distribution center. It’s not a rehab center to merely help you get through your issues. The church was and is meant to be, among other things, a place where you overcome, receive from God, experience community with others who understand “where you’ve been” and help you find FINAL & LASTING victory over those issues. It is not meant to be a place where you’re looked down on, but a place where you’re lifted to heights you’ve never imagined. Not a place of rejection, finger pointing or fault finding, but a place of the warm embraces of welcome and among those with mindsets of restoration. It’s not meant to be a place where a select few "perfect" people (cough, cough) gather to celebrate their perfection. Church is meant to be a place where imperfect people celebrate God’s perfection in and though us. It’s not a 12 step program, but a one step move toward God's grace that leads to life abundant. Atmosphere is everything... There is NOTHING wrong with getting some, I repeat, some of your spiritual nourishment (preaching & teaching, etc) from TV/FB/CD's, etc., . However, it is NOT meant to nor will it ever replace being IN God's house in real time. You cannot reproduce the atmosphere that the Holy Spirit brings into that building. That's tantamount to sweating on hot day and expecting to cool off by WATCHING someone swim. You have to dive in yourself...

#SundaySermon #Recap • When we had a beach ball full of air and we hold it down as long as we could, it was a fight, but no matter what we did, when we let go, the ball would pop up to the surface.⛱🌊 The game was to keep it under as long as possible. Another game we played was we would take the beach ball, and push it down as much as we could and we would see whose ball went the highest once the ball broke the surface of the water. 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊 • Life is exactly like that beach ball.
